Torbay Skin was created by Specialist GP Doctor David Thompson and Doctor Lynda Thwaites in 2011 in order to find an affordable way of detecting and managing skin cancers. We specialise in the early detection and treatment of skin cancer and aim to meet the rapid rise in skin cancer rates in our population. Both doctors are trained in the area of skin cancer and work closely with the Skin Cancer College Australasia.
Practitioner Clare Gunn has post-graduate qualifications in skin cancer diagnosis; a Diploma of Dermoscopy from the Skin Cancer College of Australasia, Certificates in: ‘Advanced Dermoscopy & Dermal Imaging’ and ‘Primary Care Skin Cancer Medicine’ from The University of Queensland and a Diploma of Medical Photography. Naomi Ashman has a Diploma of Dermoscopy and a Diploma of Medical Photography.
All are welcome and encouraged to come in for a skin check and do not have to be existing patients of Torbay Health. A freckle, mole or lump that is new or changing in size, shape or colour, or a sore that does not heal may all be indicators of skin cancer.
